Systems Support Engineer
Our client that operates in the Energy/Petrochemical sector, is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Systems Support Engineer for a contract assignment.
The Opportunity
The Systems Support Engineer will provide Tier 1 technical support to end users and assist with IT operations, infrastructure support, asset management, troubleshooting, and system maintenance. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring reliable IT services and a positive end-user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 1 technical support for hardware, software, and end-user issues.
- Troubleshoot Windows OS, Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, MFA, user accounts and permissions.
- Provide remote and desk-side support using Microsoft Teams, remote desktop tools, and other IT support platforms.
- Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot computers, printers, peripherals and other end-user devices.
- Utilize ITSM tools for incident, request, asset and inventory management.
- Support hardware/software procurement and asset lifecycle management.
- Monitor system performance and assist with diagnosing recurring technical issues.
- Escalate complex issues to Tier 2 support teams in accordance with established procedures.
- Support system upgrades, deployments, patching and other IT infrastructure initiatives.
- Maintain accurate IT documentation, SOPs, configurations and troubleshooting guides.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of incident, request and asset information.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve IT service delivery and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- 3–5 years’ experience in IT operations, technical support and/or network infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of Windows environments and Active Directory.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and end-user support.
- Knowledge of hardware/software installation, troubleshooting and basic networking.
- Knowledge of data backup procedures and cybersecurity best practices.
- Microsoft and/or CompTIA certifications are an asset.
- CCNA certification is an asset.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Self-driven, organized and process-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
