Diesel Mechanic
Job Summary
Our client is seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join their maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing, and maintaining diesel-powered trucks, heavy equipment, and associated mechanical and hydraulic systems to ensure maximum operational efficiency and safety. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, technically competent, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship while minimizing equipment downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and transmission faults on diesel-powered trucks and heavy equipment.
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
- Repair and overhaul diesel engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct inspections to identify mechanical defects before equipment failures occur.
- Replace worn or defective components using approved repair procedures.
- Perform engine tune-ups, adjustments and system testing.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and manufacturer manuals to troubleshoot equipment faults.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair reports and service documentation.
- Ensure all repairs comply with company safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns when required.
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment.
- Adhere to all Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
- Technical or vocational certification in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Maintenance is preferred.
- Valid driver’s permit would be an asset.
