Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator
Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the EHS Manager in maintaining compliance with all relevant EHS regulations and standards. This contractual role also involves developing and executing safety initiatives, performing audits and inspections, delivering employee training, and fostering a proactive culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety Programs and Compliance
- Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs to ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Conducts inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards.
- Coordinates with regulatory agencies during inspections and audits, to ensure compliance.
- Updates and implements the safety and environmental management system.
- Assists with performing and reviewing risk assessments for various tasks within our operations.
- Monitors and supports the company’s behaviour-based proactive reporting program.
- Maintains a corrective action register and advising operations personnel on the status of these actions.
- Evaluates and implemenst the company’s industrial hygiene program.
- Liaises with contractors to ensure compliance with Contractor Management Guidelines.
Incident Investigation and Reporting
- Assists in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepares and maintains incident reports, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Enters incident reports in the KPA web-based system and trend the data.
Environmental Management
- Supports the development and implementation of environmental programs, including waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives.
- Performs Leak Detection and Repair surveys throughout the field and updates the greenhouse gas emissions web-based system.
Emergency Response
- Participates in the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures.
- Coordinates emergency drills and exercises to ensure preparedness for potential incidents.
Data Management and Reporting
- Maintains EHS records, databases, and documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Prepares and submits regular reports on EHS performance, metrics, and compliance status to the EHS Manager.
Training and Education
- Coordinates EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure awareness and understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
- Maintains training records and ensure all personnel are up to date with required certifications and training.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
Skills and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.
- Ability to analyze accidents and near-misses to prevent recurrence.
- Ability to convey safety policies and procedures across diverse teams.
