Cleaner / Cook (Residence)- Barbados

Position Summary

We are currently creating a pool for a Cleaner / Cook that would be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene at the Official Residence while also providing basic cooking and kitchen support. The role combines household cleaning duties with the preparation of meals for the Head and/or official guests, ensuring discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning & Housekeeping Duties

• Clean and maintain all interior areas of the residence, including living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, dining areas, and offices (if applicable).

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.

• Wash, iron, and organize household linens, towels, and clothing as required.

• Maintain cleanliness of furniture, fixtures, appliances, and decorative items using appropriate methods and products.

• Clean the residence before and after official meetings, functions, or events.

• Dispose of household waste properly and in accordance with local regulations.

Cooking & Kitchen Duties

• Prepare daily meals as instructed, following dietary requirements and cultural preferences.

• Assist with meal preparation and serving for official residence functions when required.

• Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized kitchen at all times.

• Properly store food items to ensure freshness and prevent contamination.

• Assist with basic meal planning and report grocery or kitchen supply needs.

• Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas after use.

Health, Safety & Security

• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.

• Use cleaning products, kitchen appliances, and equipment safely and correctly.

• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding residence activities, occupants, and guests.

• Comply with all embassy health, safety, and security protocols.

• Report maintenance problems, damaged items, or safety concerns promptly.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Prior experience in domestic cleaning, housekeeping, or cooking is preferred.

• Basic knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, and safe kitchen practices.

• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

• Good time management and organizational skills.

• Physically fit to carry out household duties.

• High level of trustworthiness, honesty, and discretion.
