Job Description – Counter Sales Associate

Location: Trinidad and Tobago
Working Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Weekend work may be required when stock counts are conducted.

Position Summary

The Counter Sales Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service to walk-in and telephone customers while supporting the sales and operational activities of the business. The successful candidate will prepare quotations, process sales transactions, follow up on customer enquiries, and assist in achieving sales targets. This role requires a proactive, customer-oriented individual who can work independently and build strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist walk-in and telephone customers with product enquiries and purchases.
• Prepare and issue customer quotations accurately and promptly.
• Follow up on quotations and sales opportunities to secure business.
• Promote and sell the company’s products and services.
• Process customer orders and sales transactions.
• Manage daily cash sales, balance the cash drawer, and complete end-of-day cash reconciliation.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers.
• Visit customers when required to support sales and business development activities.
• Maintain accurate sales records and customer information.
• Assist with inventory counts and stock-related activities.
• Ensure the sales counter and work area remain clean, organized, and professional.
• Learn and maintain knowledge of company products, systems, and procedures.
• Adhere to all company policies and safety requirements.

Qualifications/Experience

• Five (5) CSEC subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
• Previous experience in sales, customer service, or a customer-facing role.
• Valid Driver’s Permit and access to a reliable vehicle is strongly preferred.
• Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn new software programs.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong attendance record and punctuality.

• Experience in hardware, plumbing, industrial, construction, or building materials sales.
• Knowledge of plumbing products, pipes, fittings, valves, pumps, or related products.
• Experience in preparing quotations and handling cash transactions.
