Our client, a well-established and highly respected organization, is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Financial Accountant to join its finance leadership team. This position is best suited for a qualified accounting professional with extensive experience in financial reporting, statutory compliance, audit management, financial analysis, and internal controls within a large, complex, multi-entity business environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the company’s financial records, overseeing the preparation of statutory and management reports, driving compliance with IFRS and tax regulations, supporting strategic business initiatives, and providing valuable financial insights to senior leadership. The role requires a strong commercial mindset, exceptional attention to detail, proven leadership capabilities, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Key Requirements

• ACCA/FCCA Qualified (mandatory requirement).
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant or similar senior accounting role.
• Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Demonstrated extensive hands-on experience preparing and reviewing IFRS-compliant financial statements, including full statutory reporting requirements.
• Strong experience working directly with external auditors, managing annual audit processes, addressing audit findings, preparing audit schedules, and ensuring timely closure of audit recommendations.
• Proven background within a large-scale corporate, retail, distribution, manufacturing, FMCG, or multi-entity group environment, where financial reporting, budgeting, controls, and compliance are managed across multiple business units.
• Experience preparing Board reports, management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
• Strong knowledge of corporate taxation, statutory reporting obligations, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience monitoring and improving internal controls, financial processes, and reporting systems.
• Exposure to cost accounting, margin analysis, inventory controls, capital expenditure reporting, and business performance analytics.
• Knowledge of Microsoft NAV or Microsoft Dynamics would be a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of statutory financial statements in full compliance with IFRS.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including Board reporting packages.
• Review trial balances, sub-ledgers, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Manage all statutory and tax compliance requirements, including annual Corporation Tax filings.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities and ensure timely completion of all audit deliverables.
• Execute recommendations arising from internal and external audit reviews.
• Perform detailed financial, variance, profitability, and cost analyses to support business decision-making.
• Monitor budgets and collaborate with operational stakeholders to ensure effective cost management.
• Develop and maintain cost allocation methodologies and reporting frameworks.
• Support strategic initiatives, annual operating plans, rolling forecasts, and business improvement projects.
• Monitor compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal control requirements.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial systems, reporting processes, and operational efficiencies.
