When job hunting, registering with a recruitment agency is a wise choice, as it allows you to cast a wider net during your search than if you were to apply independently. All the same, an interview with an agency doesn\u2019t mean instant placement.<\/p>\n
Bryan Beharry, our Eve Anderson Customer Service Officer offers some tips on doing your part to maintain a dialogue with the recruitment agency and how to follow up after your interview.<\/p>\n
Many candidates wait to be called on for possible placement after their interview, and, according to Beharry, often ring the agency, irate that they were not contacted after a period of time.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile I do empathise with candidates given the very aggressive job market, the truth is that it isn\u2019t humanly possible to call everyone,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n
Even though your application isn\u2019t lost in a pool of other candidates\u2019, it\u2019s useful to consider that\u2014for some fields more than others\u2014several other candidates are vying for the same or similar spots, especially given the current climate.<\/p>\n
Most persons who search for jobs through recruitment agencies are more likely than not running their own job quests independently. Many of these candidates are lucky enough to land gigs on their own.<\/p>\n
Just as we would notify you if something comes up, it would be nice if you could let us know if you\u2019ve found something. \u201cThis allows us to be able to change your status on our system from active to inactive,\u201d Beharry explains.<\/p>\n
You can make it a little easier for us and lessen the time it might take to reach an unemployed candidate to notify them of their placement by extending the courtesy toward us to tell us what\u2019s going on with you.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The disappointing reality of the job hunt, whether independent or through an agency, is that there may be somewhat of a lengthy wait.<\/p>\n Furthermore, many applicants are of the belief that there is absolute certainty that they will definitely be placed, and in a short period of time, at that.<\/p>\n \u201cCandidates often call to ask how soon they can expect to be posted, but that\u2019s a difficult question to respond to,\u201d Beharry admits. For starters, some types of jobs are more in-demand than others.<\/p>\n \u201cWe also have to match the client\u2019s profile,\u201d he reminded. \u201cWe won\u2019t be able to submit you for consideration if you don\u2019t meet the criteria in terms of experience and qualifications.\u201d<\/p>\n Getting placed after the interview is dependent on a number of factors, not limited to job availability, as well as your suitability as a candidate regarding the specific criteria outlined by the client.<\/p>\n Understanding that forging a liaison with the agency to stay on top of things, as well as keeping them abreast of what\u2019s happening is all part of the job-hunting process. You have to be proactive and keep a positive mindset. Always follow up because of the volume of people applying for the same roles and ensure you meet the criteria of the clients \/ businesses seeking professionals.
