General Manager
About us
We are a fintech founded by a team of global entrepreneurs who have built, scaled and exited technology
driven financial services companies across Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. Between us we have
launched digital lenders, insurers and payment platforms in more than ten countries, raised institutional
capital from tier-1 venture funds and international banks, and taken one of those companies through a full
exit. We are now building our next company in Guyana, together with a group of leading Guyanese business
figures as local partners.
The thesis is simple. Guyana is the fastest-growing economy on the planet: GDP has more than tripled since
2019 on the back of one of the largest offshore oil discoveries of the century, and the country is investing that
windfall in infrastructure, housing and a new middle class. Yet most Guyanese and most of the country’s small
businesses still manage their money the way they did twenty years ago: in branches, on paper, in cash. We
are building the digital financial services platform that closes that gap: mobile-first payments, savings and
credit for individuals and SMEs, built on world-class technology and run to international standards.
We are in the pre-launch phase. The founding capital has been committed, the regulatory process is under
way, the technology partners are selected and the first hires are being made. The next one is you.
The mission
We are hiring the General Manager who will build and run this company from the ground up. You will be the
number one operating executive, reporting directly to the founders and the Board, with a mandate to take
the company from plan to launch to scale. You will hire the founding team, ship the product, win the first
customers, own the P&L and stand in front of regulators, partners and investors as the face of the company in
Guyana. The goal is unambiguous: build the number one startup and the number one fintech in Guyana, the
company every talented Guyanese wants to join and every partner wants to work with. The role carries a
defined path to the Chief Executive Officer title as the company scales.
This is a seat for someone who wants to run a company, and who understands that the fastest way to earn
that seat is to build one.
What you will own
• Launch. Turn a business plan and a technology stack into a live product: regulatory and partner
approvals, core systems, payment rails, digital onboarding, first customers. You own the launch date.
• Team. Recruit, lead and retain the first 20 to 30 people across technology, product, risk, compliance,
operations and growth. Set the bar for talent and culture from day one.
• Growth. Design and run the customer acquisition engine: digital onboarding, referral mechanics, SME
distribution, partnerships with employers, telcos, merchants and remittance corridors. Own CAC,
activation and retention.
• Operations and risk. Run the company to the standard a regulator and a Board expect: KYC/AML, credit
risk, technology risk, financial control, audit. Balance risk discipline with speed.
• P&L and capital. Own the budget, the monthly numbers and the Board reporting. Run the company
with the capital discipline of an operator who treats every dollar as if it were his own.
• Stakeholders. Represent the company with regulators, government, partner banks, technology
vendors, investors and the press. Position it as the reference technology company in the country.
About you
• Ambitious and hungry. You want to run a company, and you see this role as the fastest route to a CEO
seat. You measure yourself by outcomes and you are impatient with anything that slows them down.
• 6 to 12 years of experience in fintech, digital banking, payments, consumer technology, venture
backed startups or top-tier strategy consulting, with at least part of it in financial services. You know
how a regulated money business actually works: unit economics, risk, compliance, capital.
• Digital native. You have shipped product, run growth experiments, read a cohort dashboard and
argued with engineers over an API. You know what a modern stack looks like and what it should cost.
• Operator. You have run a P&L, a business unit or a country, hit numbers and made hard people
decisions. You get things done, big or small: one day you negotiate with a regulator, the next you fix the
onboarding flow yourself. You make it happen and you do not wait to be told.
• Analytical and rigorous. You are comfortable in a financial model, a data set and a Board pack, and you
hold yourself to the details.
• Resilient. Pre-launch companies break every week and most answers do not exist yet. You are
comfortable living with the ambiguity of something that is still being built: you decide with incomplete
information, keep the team calm, fix the problem and move on.
• Guyana. You are Guyanese. Whether you have built your career at home or abroad, you know the
country, its people and how business gets done here. Diaspora candidates who want to come home to
build something are especially welcome. Living in Georgetown full-time is a requirement.
• Languages and presence. Fluent English. Spanish is a plus. Equally credible in front of a minister, a bank
CEO, a regulator and a 24-year-old developer, all on the same day.
Requirements
Bachelor’s in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, accounting or equivalent qualification
An MBA, CFA, ACCA or other relevant qualifications is an advantage.
5 – 10 years of professional experience within the field or similar field (Experience within the Fintech industry is a plus)
At least 3 – 5 years of experience in a leadership, general management, business unit, product, strategy or operations role, with demonstrated responsibility for meaningful commercial outcomes.
What we offer
• The number one operating seat in a venture-backed company in the fastest-growing economy in the
world, with a mandate to build it from zero.
• Equity participation in the company.
• Daily work alongside a founding team with multiple prior exits and a Board of international financial
services executives. You will learn more in 24 months here than in a decade anywhere else.
• Competitive compensation at international standards.
• A defined path to the Chief Executive Officer title.
Before you apply
Three things to be clear about. First, this is a pre-launch company: on day one there is a plan, a stack, capital
and a founding team, and very little else. Second, the role is in Georgetown, on site, full-time. Third, you will
be measured monthly on outcomes, by people who have built companies before and know what good looks
like. If that sounds like the best opportunity you have seen, keep reading.
Interested?
Send us your CV and a short note (300 words maximum) answering one question: what is the hardest thing
you have ever built, and what would you do differently the second time?
